The Design Leadership Foundation has partnered up with Mississippi State University to host its yearly “Professional Horizons Workshop,” which is geared towards mentorship for the university’s students who are aspiring to careers in architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design. For the past three years, the foundation has aimed to transform students into thriving industry professionals by providing tools, opportunities, and access to support and guidance of leaders in the field.
This year, the DLF and our Principal, Ken, were thrilled to welcome over 150 architecture and interior design students who participated in two full-day workshops, immersing themselves in enriching experiences. Moreover, the DLF curated a distinguished panel of 18 industry leaders who generously lent their expertise through roundtable discussions, seminars, and invaluable mock interviews, providing invaluable guidance to aspiring talents.
Ken was honored to engage with first- and second-year architecture and interior design students, offering them valuable insights into navigating their professional journey.
“It was a privilege to share tips on preparing for their future careers and empowering them to take proactive steps in their educational pursuits.”
Kenneth Roberts
Excitingly, this summer, 20 or more students will be sponsored for a transformative three-week excursion to the vibrant city of New York. This immersive experience will encompass educational classes, lucrative paid internships, illuminating studio tours, and culturally enriching excursions throughout the city.
As Interior Talent enters the third year of our support for this initiative, the enthusiasm from students at this year’s workshops has been overwhelmingly positive. Witnessing their profound impact on their lives and their exposure to esteemed firms and mentors has been genuinely inspiring. The DLF and Interior Talent remain committed to nurturing talent and fostering meaningful connections that shape the future of our industry.
The Design Leadership Foundation provides other programs, such as the Pilot Program, Materials and Technology Grants, and the Professional Horizons Summer Work Experience.
